Polar Bear
The polar bear, an iconic Arctic predator, is the largest carnivorous mammal on Earth. Perfectly adapted to life on sea ice, polar bears have thick fur, a layer of blubber for insulation, and large paws that act as snowshoes. Their primary diet consists of seals, which they hunt on the ice using their incredible sense of smell and patience.
Climate change poses a significant threat to polar bears, as melting ice reduces their hunting grounds and forces them to travel greater distances in search of food. Conservation efforts include addressing global warming, protecting critical habitats, and mitigating human-polar bear conflicts to secure the future of this majestic species.
