Sri Lankan Leopard

Endemic to Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan leopard is a striking big cat known for its adaptability and powerful build. It inhabits various environments, including rainforests, dry forests, and mountainous regions. As the island’s apex predator, it regulates prey populations, maintaining ecological balance.

Despite its adaptability, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict have pushed the Sri Lankan leopard to endangered status. Conservation efforts focus on protecting critical habitats and educating local communities about coexistence. Eco-tourism has also played a significant role in raising awareness and funds for its protection.
