Golden Lion Tamarin
The golden lion tamarin is a small monkey native to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Its radiant golden-orange fur and expressive face make it one of the most charismatic primates. These tamarins live in close family groups, often engaging in cooperative parenting and mutual grooming.
Golden lion tamarins are crucial for their ecosystems, aiding in seed dispersal and pollination. However, habitat destruction and the illegal pet trade have drastically reduced their numbers. Conservation programs, including captive breeding and reforestation, have been instrumental in bringing this species back from the brink of extinction.
