Javan Langur

The Javan langur, or Javan lutung, is a monkey native to the lush forests of Java, Indonesia. Known for its striking appearance, these monkeys have black or orange fur, with juveniles displaying a bright orange coat that darkens with age. These arboreal primates are highly social, living in troops led by a dominant male.

Javan langurs primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers, playing a critical role in seed dispersal and maintaining forest health. Unfortunately, deforestation and illegal hunting have significantly impacted their populations. Conservation organizations are working on habitat restoration and rescue programs to ensure the survival of this unique species.
