North China Leopard
The North China leopard, a critically endangered subspecies of leopard, is found in the rocky forests and mountains of northern China. With its golden-yellow coat covered in black rosettes, it is a powerful yet elusive predator. These leopards are solitary hunters, preying on deer, wild boar, and small mammals. Their ability to adapt to challenging terrains makes them key to maintaining ecological balance.
Despite their resilience, habitat destruction, poaching, and prey depletion have caused their numbers to plummet. Conservation efforts are now focused on creating protected areas, combating illegal hunting, and promoting coexistence with humans. Currently, fewer than 500 individuals are estimated to remain in the wild, making the North China leopard a symbol of urgent wildlife preservation.
